Mind over the Fatter

Day 5
Mental Rehearsal for Ramadaan Champions

Adaption to external circumstances and how that effects and has an impact on the functioning of the mind and physical motor mechanics of the body is a spectacular phenomena. During one month, during daylight, out of an entire year we are reminded that we are merely human beings and succumb to a greater power that asks of us to sacrifice basic elements like food and water (to start). We are humbled, we are challenged as we learn to cultivate patience by enduring hunger and thirst this helps one to understand the sufferings of the poor and needy people in our world thus generating compassion and a feeling to help others. It encourages discipline and order in ourselves.

Appreciation is key, being grateful for history that teach us, traditions that guide us and cultures that mold us. There is no way I can stop myself from highlighting gratitude toward our health. It is after all a big time for mental and physical challenges. Correct. This should be easy, if you're mentally prepared and spiritually in tune with your lifestyle (what ever that might be for you), this is easy. HEALTHY BODY. Healthy mind. I'm always celebrating the body as a magnificent machine. But what about the mind? The one can not exist without the other.

What mind set are you in when rolling out of bed at 1 o' clock to pollute your body with toxins and food with zero nutritional value, adding nothing of substance to the functioning of yourself as a human? What mind set would you be in? Is that a mindset of a champion? Are you exercising discipline? Almost ALL world-class athletes and successful people make extensive use of mental imagery to improve their lives and performance in their sport.

Visualization, I touched on in previous post, is one of the oldest methods for self improvement. But a lot of people say they don’t think it will work and others say they want to try it but they don’t know how to visualize. It's simple, day dream. Fantasize, feel it and believe it. Now I've got my Action Plan with a set time to go to for a hike, or to a yoga class and train. I'm also setting aside time for mental training, what ever the hell that means. It has been said that the best time for this is right before we go to sleep at night, or early in the morning because, apparently, in both these cases, our unconscious mind is very primed and receptive to programming. What ever type of meditation works for you, do it! Just get it done!!
